HealthyPlace.com Mood Tracker

The HealthyPlace Mood Tracker is a unique, easy to use, daily tracking system that enables you to keep track of your moods and the feelings and actions behind them. In addition, the HealthyPlace.com Mood Tracker, using a scientifically validated algorithm, measures when your mood is dangerously depressed or elevated (manic) and will send an alert to your doctor or therapist via email or fax and include a copy of your recent mood journal entries (with your authorization, of course). Our mood journal system can also send a text message alert to a family member or caregiver’s cellphone advising them to look in on you.

Many mental health professionals recommend the use of a mood journal as a tool for managing bipolar disorder, depression or other mood disorders. By using the mood tracking system on a regular basis, you can begin to see patterns evolve and learn to detect the early onset of cycles so you can take preventative action. The mood journal also allows you to see other factors that have a positive or negative effect on your moods and symptoms so you can concentrative on the positive and avoid the negative ones.

How The Mood Tracker Works

There are 5 tabs across the top of all HealthyPlace.com Mood Tracker pages:

1.About: Mood Tracker homepage with instructions

2.Mood Entry: Date and time are automatically fixed. Select AM or PM. Then

  • Select your Mood - either elevated (manic), normal or depressed. After you select one, there's a sub-menu that displays to further define your mood.
  • Your Anxiety - First, click on "Anxiety Level" and rate that. Then go back and click on "Irritability Level" and rate that.
  • Your Hours Slept - How many hours did you sleep in the last 24 hours?
  • Your Weight - Enter your weight in pounds.
  • Your Medication - Enter the medications and dose you are taking. Click "add more" if you are taking more than one medication.
  • Your Daily Notes - Write down observations about your moods, emotions, feelings in the last 24 hours. Why you feel the way you do? For example: "I'm depressed because I had another fight with my boss." or "My period always makes me feel this way." This is like a diary entry, where you can look back and hopefully establish some patterns.

When you are done, click "Add Entry." If you forget something, go to the "view entry and calendar" tab, click on the day of your entry and update your entry.

View Chart and Calendar: You can set a date range and your mood and anxiety levels are automatically graphed for an easy view of how you've been doing during that time period. And a calendar allows you to see your mood over time. Click on the calendar link for any specific day and open your mood journal entry for that day.

30-Days Report: Gives you a quick view of your moods over the last 30-days.

Settings: If you feel your doctor or therapist should be aware of when you are too manic or too depressed (and they should be), then you can set up an automatic alert. Put in the doctor or therapist's name. Select the alert type, email or fax. Then a box appears to put in the email address or fax number. You can send a second alert to another healthcare provider, caregiver or family member by filling in the "secondary alert settings." When you are done, click the "enable alert system" box and "save settings."
