In this video, I talk about one of my secret tricks to self-soothing when borderline personality disorder (BPD) symptoms are triggered.

Self-Soothing BPD and the Back Door to My Mind

One of the particularly challenging aspects of living with BPD is my inability to self-soothe.

I used to have a tough time calming myself down after experiencing something emotionally intense. I would stay in a state of panic or anger or whatever I was feeling for days, if not weeks. I could experience relief via the comfort of a partner or close friend, but I was almost never able to calm myself down.

That is until I discovered a little BPD hack. In this video, I talk about how I use my senses to calm my body before addressing my emotions. As it turns out, my mind tends to follow once my body can relax.
