Ashley Miller Lives with Bipolar and an Addiction
My twenties were very challenging, learning how to manage my bipolar disorder. I got sober at the age of 21 and recently celebrated eight years sober. Learning how to manage my emotions without substances has been essential to my wellbeing. I started self-medicating my bipolar disorder at 13 years old by consuming large amounts of alcohol. By 19 years old, I was having severe manic and depressive episodes with consequences at school, with the law, and with my health.
Ashley Miller Learns to Navigate Work with Bipolar Disorder
When I entered the workforce at 21, I struggled immensely with navigating work and managing my bipolar disorder. After eight years, I have found several tools that best help manage my mental health daily. I now have my dream job working for an addiction and recovery advocacy organization where I help to reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorders nationwide. I have made it my life mission to help countless people living with substance use and mental health disorders. I hope that my writing is another way to inspire and help numerous people living with bipolar and depression by teaching effective tools to navigate the workforce and live a successful, happy life.
