Video: Phentermine, A Binge Eating Disorder Medication
Phentermine is a binge eating disorder medication as it's an appetite suppressant. It works by stimulating the part of the brain that regulates appetite. With someone that has binge eating disorder, this area of the brain could be going into overdrive and causing binges. The binge eating disorder medication, phentermine, has worked to help me control my binges and stop grazing all day.
How Does Phentermine Help to Stop Binges?
When I take phentermine, my mind is suddenly off my binge eating disorder. I can't explain it. But, finally, I can concentrate on other things and not have the next meal as a constant niggling thought in the back of my mind. I also don't notice that constant hungry feeling that I sometimes get. I eat my meals and then I'm perfectly happy to go find something else to do instead of returning to the fridge.
What Are Phentermine's Side Effects?
Like any medication, Phentermine has some side effects. It actually works to boost your mood and can provide a pleasant feeling of energy and happiness. However, if you have anxiety issues, you will need to be careful. When I take this medication it sometimes makes me jittery and more anxious. If you have a comorbidity with any other mental illness, be sure to tell your doctor and monitor your moods while you take this. It can be a great asset to handling your binge eating disorder, but there's no point in taking it if it makes your other problems worse. This medication can be taken as needed and it leaves your system in 12 hours. So it's easy to take it when you know you're going to have a bad binge eating disorder day and skip it if you know you're going to have a high anxiety day.
How Do I Know if Phentermine is Right For My Binge Eating Disorder?
Only you and your doctor can decide how to treat your binge eating disorder and whether it's right to add Phentermine. It's not a magic pill and won't cure you. But it can help take the edge off of difficult days and keep you focused on your life. There are also other binge eating disorder medications available. Discuss your options with your doctor and decide what is right for you, as an individual. New medications, such as Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate), are coming onto the market in order to help people with binge eating disorder. And with every new way to treat binge eating disorder and its symptoms, we get one step closer to helping everyone that has this eating disorder.

These are illegal without a prescription & I can not find a dr who will prescribe it for me. Help??
If you have another condition that can interact with a stimulant, doctors will not prescribe it to you. Unfortunately, if you can't take stimulants there are no other medications available to suppress appetite. Do you see a therapist or counselor? They might be able to help you work on coping skills.
